State of Hope Tour: 9 Cities in 9 Days

Acclaimed War Casualties Exhibition on Display in Nine Georgia Cities

Coming to Americus on November 15th

Americus, GA ─ The American Friends Service Committee and the Georgia Peace and Justice Coalition co-sponsor a nine city tour featuring performances by indie-folk musician Witt Wisebram. The State of Hope Tour also features AFSC’s Georgia Eyes Wide Open Exhibit, illustrating the human cost of the Iraq war, which includes a pair of boots for each fallen soldier from Georgia (currently 117), and a visual representation of the Iraqi civilian casualties. The tour concludes at the annual School of the Americas Watch vigil, which brings tens of thousands to Columbus. On November 15th, the Eyes Wide Open Exhibit will be featured in Rylander Park from Noon through 6 pm. At 7 pm that evening, there will be a live concert featuring Witt Wisebram at Koinonia Farm just eight miles south of Americus on route 49 S. Other Georgia cities on the State of Hope Tour include Marietta, Sautee, Athens, Statesboro, Savannah, St. Simons Island and Macon. The State of Hope Tour aims to encourage and inspire all Georgians to help build the world in which we hope to live. With dynamic performances and powerful exhibits, we hope to provoke important dialogue and connection throughout the state.
